This particular design came to mind, thanks to my oldest daughter. She's a lover of all things witchy, ghostly, and Halloweenie, and this little guy stole her heart a long time ago! I'm surprised it has taken me this long to design a version of him for her...He will, of course, be hanging from the rear view mirror of her vehicle!
| Haunted Hound Crochet Pattern Materials Used: 10-15 yds worsted weight yarn Size 4mm crochet hook 2 size 6mm safety eyes Small amount of stuffing Yarn needle Size/Gauge: Gauge is not important to this project. Finished model measures 2.5” tall x 2.5” across. Stitches Used/Abbreviations: Ch-chain Rnd-round Sc-single crochet Sc2tog-single crochet two stitches together Hdc-half double crochet FLO-work in front loops only of indicated stitch(es) Sl st-slip stitch |  |
Instructions:
Nose:
Rnd 1: With Orange, ch 2. Work 4 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. (4 sts) Fasten off Orange, join White.
Rnd 2: ch 1. Sc in each st around. Join. (4 sts)
Rnd 3: ch 1. *Sc in next st. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (6 sts) Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Ears: (Make 2)
Ch 5. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook. Sc in each of the last 3 chs. Fasten off, leaving a tail for tying.
Head/Body:
Rnd 1: ch 2. Work 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. (8 sts)
Rnd 2: ch 1. Work 2 sc in each st around. Join. (16 sts)
Rnds 3-5: ch 1. Sc in each st around. Join. (16 sts) **Place safety eyes between rnds 3-4, with 3 sts between them.
Rnd 6: ch 1. Sc2tog, 8 times. Join. (8 sts)
Rnd 7: ch 1. Sc2tog, 4 times. Join. (4 sts)
Rnd 8: ch 1. Working in FLO for this entire rnd, work 3 hdc in each st around. Join. (12 sts)
Rnd 9: ch 1. Work 3 hdc in each st around. Join. (36 sts)
Rnd 10: ch 1. *Sc in next st. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (54 sts) Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Collar: Cut a length of orange yarn and wrap around the neck at rnd 7. Tie off, and weave in ends.
Assembly:
Place nose between eyes, and stitch in place. Cut a length of Orange yarn to tie around the tip, between rnds 1-2, pulling tightly to cinch it in.
Place one ear above each eye, and tie in place.
Weave in all ends.
The perfect finish for this Haunted Hound would be to add a bit of fishing line or other invisible thread to the top of his head. Form a hanging loop, and let him “float” magically in the air, wherever you hang him!
