Popcorn and Bowl~FREE Crochet Pattern

​Who doesn't love popcorn? Hot, buttery, yummy...even plain, or caramel corn is amazing!

I designed two different sizes, along with a bowl to keep them in, for a fun addition to kitchen play for kids, and we've got them all~plain, buttered, caramel, and even extra butter!

Simple color changes are all that's needed to change the "flavor" of your popcorn, and you can even add faces to the individual kernels, or the bowl, if you like!
Leave them loose, for kitchen play, or even string them up for your next Christmas garland ;) They are super quick and easy to create, and completely no-sew...

Free Popcorn and Bowl
Crochet Pattern 

Materials Used:
Scraps of worsted weight yarn, in your choice of colors
Size 4.00mm crochet hook 
Small amount of stuffing 
Yarn needle 

Size/Gauge:
Gauge is not important to this project. Finished models measure approximately 1.5” (Small kernel), 1.75” (Large Kernel) and 2.5” tall x 4” wide (Bowl)

Stitches Used/Abbreviations:
Ch-chain 
Rnd-round 
Sc-single crochet 
Sc2tog-single crochet two stitches together 
Bpsc-work single crochet stitches around the back of the post of indicated stitch(es)
Hdc-half double crochet 
FLO-work in front loops only of indicated stitch(es) 
Bobble-*yarn over, insert hook into stitch. Yarn over, draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through two loops on hook*, 3 times. Yarn over, draw through all 4 remaining loops at once.
Sl st-slip stitch 

Instructions:
Small Kernel: (Stuff lightly, if desired)
Rnd 1: ch 2. Work 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. (8 sts)
Rnd 2: ch 1. *Sc in next st. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (12 sts)
Rnd 3: ch 1. Sc in each st around. Join. (12 sts)
Rnd 4: ch 1. Sc2tog, 6 times. Join. (6 sts)
Rnd 5: ch 1. Working in FLO for this entire rnd, *work {1 Bobble, 1 sl st, 1 Bobble, 1 sl st} in next st. Sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. Fasten off. Weave in ends. 

Large Kernel: (Stuff as you go)
Rnd 1: ch 2. Work 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. (8 sts)
Rnd 2: ch 1. *Sc in next st. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (12 sts)
Rnd 3: ch 1. *Sc in each of the next 2 sts. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around.  Join. (16 sts)
Rnd 4: ch 1. Sc in each st around. Join. (16 sts)
Rnd 5: ch 1. *Sc in each of the next 2 sts. Sc2tog*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (12 sts)
Rnd 6: ch 1. Sc2tog, 6 times. Join. (6 sts)
Rnd 7: ch 1. Working in FLO for this entire rnd, *work {1 Bobble, 1 sl st, 1 Bobble, 1 sl st} in next st. Sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. Fasten off. Weave in ends. 

Bowl: (You can change colors, as you like. I alternated Red and White, every 2 rounds)
Rnd 1: ch 2. Work 10 hdc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. (10 sts)
Rnd 2: ch 1. Work 2 sc in each st around. Join. (20 sts)
Rnd 3: ch 1. *Sc in next st. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (30 sts)
Rnd 4: ch 1. *Sc in each of the next 2 sts. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (40 sts)
Rnd 5: ch 1. Bpsc in each st around. Join. (40 sts)
Rnds 6-7: ch 1. Hdc in each st around. Join. (40 sts)
Rnd 8: ch 1. *Sc in each of the next 3 sts. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (50 sts)
Rnd 9: ch 1. Hdc in each st around. Join. (50 sts)
Rnd 10: ch 1. Sc in each st around. Join. (50 sts)
Rnds 11-12: ch 1. Hdc in each st around. Join. (50 sts)
