I came across another one of my older designs today, that I had retired~the first Easter Basket I made for my little guy (which he still has!)
I love the look of this basket, and the fact that you can change out the colors easily, to make it suitable for any holiday decorating, so I have decided to offer this one to you as a free holiday pattern!

Baby’s 1st Easter Basket
Materials Used:
Worsted weight yarn in your choice of 2 colors
Size H/8 (5.00mm) crochet hook
Size/Gauge:
One size basket and bow. Gauge is not important to this project.
Stitches Used/Abbreviations:
Ch-chain
Rnd-round
Sc-single crochet
Hdc-half double crochet
Dc-double crochet
Fphdc-front post half double crochet (yarn over, insert hook around front of post of next stitch, yarn over, pull through all 3 loops on hook)
Bphdc-back post half double crochet (yarn over, insert hook around back of post of next stitch, yarn over, pull through all 3 loops on hook)
BLO-work in back loops of stitches only
Sc2tog-single crochet two stitches together

Rnd 1: With Color A, ch 2. Work 8 sc in 1st ch. Join with slip stitch to 1st sc. (8 sts)

Using a yarn needle, sew each end of handle to an opposite side of basket at top row. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Bow:
Rnd 1: With Color B, ch 30. Being careful not to twist ch, join with slip st in 1st ch to form a ring. Ch 1. Sc in each ch around. Join.
Rnd 2: ch 1. Hdc in each st around. Join.
Rnd 3: ch 1. Sc in each st around. Join. Fasten off. Flatten loop in half, with joinings at center back. Tie a length of yarn around both layers at center, leaving tails long enough to tie tassels to back of bow.
Tassels:
Row 1: With Color B, ch 20. Dc in 3rd ch from hook. Hdc in next ch. Sc in each of the next 6 chs. Work 4 sc in next ch. Sc in each of the next 6 chs. Hdc in next ch. Dc in each of the last 2 chs.
Working across end, and opposite side of ch: ch 1. Sc in end of tassel. Work 3 sc in corner. Sc in each ch, skipping “center hole” st. Work 3 sc in next corner. Sc in end. Join to 1st st. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Using tails from bow, tie tassel to back of bow, through center hole. Then, tie entire bow to center row of Color B band on basket.
If you would like to "stiffen" the handle, you can add pipe cleaners or wire to the edges of it.
