Hanging Pouches/Nests FREE Crochet Pattern

​Here's a design that I actually made MONTHS ago! But, life got in my way, and I never got it posted...So, I bring it to you now, in hopes that you will love it!
These little pouches are so versatile! You can use them for air plant holders, bird nests for rescues, or just a cute catch-all to hang on the wall...

I have created 3 different sizes for these pouches, for even more versatility! You can use any size yarn or hook, to create even more sizes, and this project is PERFECT for using up those leftover bits of yarn that we all have laying around...

Hanging Pouches
Crochet Pattern

Materials Used:
Any weight yarn
Size H(5.00mm), K(6.50mm), or N(9.00mm) crochet hook

Size/Gauge:
Gauge is not important to this project. Finished sizes will depend on yarn/hook used.
For regular worsted weight (4 weight), I suggest an H hook. For double strand worsted, or 5 weight yarn, I suggest a K hook. For 6 weight Super Bulky yarn, I suggest an N hook.

Stitches Used/Abbreviations:
Ch-chain
Rnd-round
Sc-single crochet
Sc2tog-single crochet two stitches together
Hdc-half double crochet
Sl st-slip stitch

3 different sizes...1 weight of yarn!

Instructions:
Small Pouch:
Rnd 1: ch 2. Work 8 hdc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. (8 sts)
Rnd 2: ch 1. Work 2 sc in each st around. Join. (16 sts)
Rnd 3: ch 1. *Sc in next st. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (24 sts)
Rnd 4: ch 1. *Sc in each of the next 2 sts. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (32 sts)
Rnd 5: ch 1. Sc in each st around. Join. (32 sts)
Rnds 6-7: ch 1. Hdc in each st around. Join. (32 sts)
Rnd 8: ch 1. Sc in each of the next 10 sts. Hdc in each of the next 12 sts. Sc in each of the next 10 sts. Join. (32 sts)
Rnd 9: ch 1. Sc in each of the next 10 sts. Sc2tog, 6 times. Sc in each of the last 10 sts. Join. (26 sts)
Hanging Loop: ch 10. Sl st in same st as rnd 9 joining. Ch 1. Work 10 sc in loop. Sl st in same st as rnd 9 joining. Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Wrap tail around base of loop several times, and secure in back.

Medium Pouch:
Rnd 1: ch 2. Work 10 hdc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. (10 sts)
Rnd 2: ch 1. Work 2 sc in each st around. Join. (20 sts)
Rnd 3: ch 1. *Sc in next st. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (30 sts)
Rnd 4: ch 1. *Sc in each of the next 2 sts. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (40 sts)
Rnd 5: ch 1. Sc in each st around. Join. (40 sts)
Rnds 6-7: ch 1. Hdc in each st around. Join. (40 sts)
Rnd 8: ch 1. Sc in each of the next 12 sts. Hdc in each of the next 16 sts. Sc in each of the next 12 sts. Join. (40 sts)
Rnd 9: ch 1. Sc in each of the next 12 sts. Sc2tog, 8 times. Sc in each of the last 12 sts. Join. (32 sts)
Hanging Loop: ch 10. Sl st in same st as rnd 9 joining. Ch 1. Work 10 sc in loop. Sl st in same st as rnd 9 joining. Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Wrap tail around base of loop several times, and secure in back.

Large Pouch:
Rnd 1: ch 2. Work 10 hdc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. (10 sts)
Rnd 2: ch 1. Work 2 sc in each st around. Join. (20 sts)
Rnd 3: ch 1. *Sc in next st. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (30 sts)
Rnd 4: ch 1. *Sc in each of the next 2 sts. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (40 sts)
Rnd 5: ch 1. *Sc in each of the next 3 sts. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (50 sts)
Rnd 6: ch 1. Sc in each st around. Join. (50 sts)
Rnds 7-8: ch 1. Hdc in each st around. Join. (50 sts)
Rnds 9-10: ch 1. Sc in each of the next 15 sts. Hdc in each of the next 20 sts. Sc in each of the next 15 sts. Join. (50 sts)
Rnd 11: ch 1. Sc in each of the next 11 sts. Sc2tog, 14 times. Sc in each of the last 11 sts. Join. (36 sts)
Hanging Loop: ch 10. Sl st in same st as rnd 11 joining. Ch 1. Work 10 sc in loop. Sl st in same st as rnd 11 joining. Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Wrap tail around base of loop several times, and secure in back.
