Winter weather...gardening...working with fiber...mechanics...Just a few reasons why we get dry, cracked, and painful cuticles.
My kids are forever getting hangnails or little splits in theirs, and they asked me if I could make a cure, so I started playing "Mad Scientist", and came up with this cuticle cream, to help keep those cuticles HEALTHY! Follow me for the recipe, and step-by-step instructions~ |
What you'll need~
A double boiler, or microwave safe bowl (Choose your own measurements, to make the batch as large or small as you need~Your "parts" can be teaspoons, tablespoons, cups, etc....As long as you use the same for each.) 2 parts Coconut oil 2 parts Aloe Butter 1 part beeswax A few drops of Vitamin E oil 3-4 drops of your favorite Essential oil (I chose 2 drops of Tea Tree oil, and 2 drops of Rosemary oil, for their healing properties) Small plastic jars, with lids |
First, measure your coconut oil, aloe butter, and beeswax into the top pan of a double boiler or microwave safe bowl. Stir together, until just melted. If using the microwave, heat on 30 second intervals, and stir in between~you want them to JUST melt, not get HOT.
Once it's melted, add the Vitamin E oil (I used 5 drops in mine, as I used tablespoons for my "parts"). Stir in well. Now, add your essential oils, and stir well.
Pour in to your containers, and let them set! If you'd like to add volume, and make them more creamy, you can also whip the mixture, once it begins to set, but this step is not a necessity~it's purely optional.
To Use~
Dab a Q-tip, or the tip of your finger into your cream, and rub it well, into the skin around each finger and toe nail. Absorbs quickly, and lasts a LONG time!
