Double Starflower Lilypad Pin
Crochet Pattern Materials Used: Aunt Lydia's Fashion 3 crochet thread, in your choice of colors (Just leftover bits!) Size 2mm crochet hook Safety pins or pinbacks Yarn needle Size/Gauge: Gauge is not important to this project. Finished models measure approximately 1" across. Stitches Used/Abbreviations: ch-chain rnd-round sc-single crochet hdc-half double crochet dc-double crochet BLO-work in back loops only of indicated stitch(es) FLO-work in front loop only of indicated stitch(es) Sl st-slip stitch |
Instructions:
Stamen: ch 4. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, and each remaining ch. Fasten off, leaving a tail long enough to tie. Flower: Rnd 1: ch 2. Work 10 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. (10 sts) Rnd 2: Working in FLO for this entire rnd, *ch 1. Work {1 hdc, 1 dc, ch 1. Sl st in top of dc st just worked. 1 hdc, ch 1} all in next st. Sl st in next st*. Repeat (*) around. (5 petals) Rnd 3: Working in the unused BLO for this entire rnd, *ch 1. Work {2 dc, ch 1. Sl st in top of dc st just worked. 2 dc, ch 1} all in next st. Sl st in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Lilypad: Rnd 1: ch 2. Work 8 hdc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. (8 sts) Rnd 2: ch 1. Work 2 sc in each st around. Join. (16 sts) Rnd 3: ch 1. Hdc in next st. Work 2 hdc in next st. *Sc in next st. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around to last 2 sts. Hdc in next st. Work 2 hdc in last st. Ch 1. Sl st in last st. DO NOT JOIN. Fasten off. Weave in ends. Tie stamen in center of flower. Weave in ends. Place flower on top of lilypad. Place pinback or safety pin under lilypad. Using a yarn needle and the tail from the flower, stitch pin to back of lilypad, and flower to top of lilypad, going through all layers at once. If using a safety pin, be sure you stitch to the side of the pin that does NOT open!
Weave in all ends, and your pin is complete :)
