So, I saw these really cool looking crochet hooks, and I just HAD to have them! If nothing else, they look cool, right?
Well~ I got them, and lots of people have wondered what they are like to actually USE, so here's MY take on them, along with a new free pattern for these super cute kissing cousins ;) Follow me for the fun~ |
As you can see in the photos, they are long enough to NOT interfere with your hold, whether you prefer the pencil hold, or the knife hold, and I had no problems at all with the decorative ends tangling up in my yarn.
I have to say that, yes~I love these hooks! They are priced very reasonably, shipped quickly, and are a definite asset to my collection!

Crochet Pattern
Materials Used:
Worsted weight yarn
Size 3.00mm or 3.5mm crochet hook
Two 8mm safety eyes
Small amount of stuffing
Yarn needle
Size/Gauge:
Gauge is not important to this project, so you can use any size yarn or hooks. Finished models measure 4" long, using the 3.00mm hook, and 5" long, using the 3.5mm hook.
Stitches Used/Abbreviations:
ch-chain
rnd-round
sc-single crochet
sc2tog-single crochet two stitches together
hdc-half double crochet
BLO-work in back loops only of indicated stitch(es)
FLO-work in front loops only of indicated stitch(es)
sl st-slip stitch
Instructions: (Stuff as you go)
Rnd 1: ch 2. Work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. (6 sts)
Rnd 2: ch 1. *Sc in each fo the next 2 sts. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (8 sts)
Rnd 3: ch 1. *Sc in each of the next 3 sts. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (10 sts)
Rnd 4: ch 1. *Sc in each of the next 4 sts. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (12 sts)
Rnd 5: ch 1. *Sc in each of the next 2 sts. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (16 sts)
Rnd 6: ch 1. Working in BLO for this entire rnd, sc in each st around. Join. (16 sts) **Now is a good time to place the safety eyes on either side of the head, at rnd 3.
Rnd 7: ch 1. Working in both loops again, from here on, *Sc in each of the next 3 sts. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (20 sts)
Rnds 8-12: ch 1. Sc in each st around. Join. (20 sts)
Rnd 13: ch 1. *Sc in each of the next 3 sts. Sc2tog*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (16 sts)
Rnd 14: ch 1. *Sc in each of the next 2 sts. Sc2tog*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (12 sts)
Rnd 15: ch 1. *Sc in next st. Sc2tog*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (8 sts)
Rnd 16: ch 1. Sc2tog, 4 times. Join. (4 sts)
Tail: ch 35. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Using your yarn needle, begin rolling the chain up, stitching it together to form a spiral as you go.
Neck Frill: Using the unused FLO of rnd 6, join yarn in center bottom stitch. Ch 1. Sc in each of the next 2 sts. {Hdc in next st, work 2 hdc in next st}, 3 times. {Work 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st}, 3 times. Sc in each of the last 2 sts. Join. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Legs: (Make 4)
Ch 8. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, and next ch. Ch 3. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, and next ch. Sl st in each of the 5 remaining chs of the beginning ch 8. Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing/tying on.
Place 2 legs on either side of body, in desired positions, and stitch or tie in place. Weave in all ends, and your chameleons are ready for action!
