My kids have recently gotten back into the "How to Train Your Dragon" movie~and, of course, they want "stuff" to go with it!
So, I designed a cute hat and mini pillow for them, based on their favorite dragon~the Night Fury!
Night Fury Hat & Pillow
Materials Used:
Worsted weight yarn, in Black, with a small amount of Yellow for eyes, and White for Teeth
Size I/9 (5.50mm) crochet hook
Small amount of stuffing for pillow
Yarn needle

Rnd 3: ch 1. *Hdc in next st, work 2 hdc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (30 sts)
Rnd 4: ch 1. *Hdc in each of the next 2 sts, work 2 hdc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (40 sts) *Stop here for Newborn. Go to Pattern section.
Rnd 5: ch 1. *Hdc in each of the next 3 sts, work 2 hdc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (50 sts) *Stop here for Toddler. Go to Pattern section.

Pattern Section:
Rnd 1: *ch 1. Hdc in each st around. Join.
Repeat rnd 1 until desired length is reached. (Use sizing guide below for suggested sizes.) Fasten off. Go to Teeth.
Teeth:
Join White yarn on edge, near center side stitch. *Ch 3. Sc in 2nd ch from hook. Hdc in next ch. Skip next st on hat. Sl st in next st*. Repeat (*) 9 more times, for a total of 10 teeth. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Eyes: (Make 1 of each)
Eye A:
Rnd 1: With Black, ch 2. Work 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. (8 sts)
Rnd 2: Join Yellow. Ch 1. Work 2 hdc in next st. In next st, {dc, ch 1, sl st in top of dc st just completed, dc}. Work 1 dc and 1 hdc in next st. Work 1 hdc and 1 sc in next st. Work 2 sc in next st. Work 2 hdc in next st. Sc in each of the last 3 sts (The last st should be worked in the same st you joined in). Join. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Eye B:

Using 2 ear pieces, place on on top of the other, with wrong sides together. Join yarn in bottom corner, and sc up side, through both layers. Work 3 sc in top point. Sc down opposite side, through both layers. Fasten off at bottom edge, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Horns: (Make 2)
Rnd 1: ch 2. Work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. (6 sts)
Rnds 2-5: ch 1. Sc in each st around. Join. Fasten off after rnd 5, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Assembly:
Stitch eyes to lower front of hat, just above, and inside the edges of the teeth.
Sew horns to center front of hat, near top.
Sew ears slightly behind, and to the sides of each horn.
Pillow: (Stuff lightly, as you go)
Rnd 1: ch 2. Work 10 hdc in 1st ch. Join. (10 sts)
Rnd 2: ch 1. Work 2 hdc in each st around. Join. (20 sts)
Rnd 3: ch 1. *Hdc in next st, work 2 hdc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (30 sts)
Rnd 4: ch 1. *Hdc in each of the next 2 sts, work 2 hdc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (40 sts)
Rnd 5: ch 1. *Hdc in each of the next 3 sts, work 2 hdc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (50 sts)

Assembly:
Sew teeth to lower center front of pillow.
Stitch eyes just above, and inside the edges of the teeth.
Sew horns to center front of pillow, near top.
Sew ears about 2 rows behind, and to the sides of each horn.
