I hesitated publishing this pattern, because these are NOT medical grade face masks...They will NOT stop the coronavirus...But, if you want to protect yourself and others while on a quick run for necessities, or out walking with your family, they do offer some level of protection, while saving our limited supply for medical personnel :)
These masks have a pocket built-in on the back side, for you to use your own removable, disposable filters. Please be sure to throw the disposable filter away, upon your return home, and then just pop the mask into the washing machine! Follow me for the free pattern, for adults AND children~ |
Pleated Face Mask with Pocket
Crochet Pattern Materials Used: Approximately 65-70 yds. Of Worsted weight yarn Size H/8 (5.00mm) crochet hook Yarn needle Size: Small fits Child 2-10 years Large fits Teen/Adult Stitches Used/Abbreviations: Ch-chain Sc-single crochet BLO-work in back loops only of indicated stitch(es) Sl st-slip stitch |
Row 1: ch 30(35). Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, and each of the next 4 chs. Sc in each of the next 19(24) chs. Sl st in each of the last 5 chs. (29(34) sts)
Row 2: ch 1, TURN. Sl st in each of the 1st 5 sts. Sc in BLO of each of the next 19(24) sts. Sl st in each of the last 5 sts (Both loops). (29(34) sts)
Rows 3-16(18): Repeat row 2.
Ear Loops: After last row, DO NOT FASTEN OFF. Ch 20(25). Sl st in opposite corner of short side. Ch 1, TURN. Sl st in each ch. Sl st in each st across long (top) edge. Ch 20(25). Sl st in opposite corner of short side. Ch 1, TURN. Sl st in each ch. Sl st in corner. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Pocket: Row 1: Rejoin yarn in 1st sc of bottom edge. Ch 1. Working through both loops, sc in each of the next 19(24) sts. (19(24) sts)
Rows 2-12(14): ch1, TURN. sc in each st across. (19(24) sts)
Fasten off after last row, leaving a long tail for sewing. Fold Pocket piece up to match top row of front. Using a yarn needle, stitch each side of the pocket to the front piece. Fasten off, weave in ends.
