Pretty Kitties Applique~FREE Crochet Pattern

These pretty kitties are just waiting to adorn your favorite projects! Make them in black, for a fun Halloween accent, or make several in different colors to line a hat or bag!
Gauge is not important here at all, so use any size hook, and yarn, to achieve your perfect size :)

Pretty Kitties Applique
Materials Needed:
Worsted weight yarn
Size G or H crochet hook (or size needed to obtain final desired size)

Stitches Used/Abbreviations:
Ch-chain
Rnd-round
Sc-single crochet
Sc2tog-single crochet two stitches together
Sl st-slip stitch

Instructions:
Rnd 1: ch 2. Work 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. (8 sts)
Rnd 2: ch 1. Sc in next st. Work 2 sc in next st. Ch 2. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook (1st ear made). Sl st in each of the next 2 sts on base. Ch 2. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook (2nd ear made). Sc in next st on base. Work 2 sc in next st. Sc in next st. Work 2 sc in last st. Join. (9 sts + 2 ears)
Now working in rows~
Row 1: ch 1, TURN. Work 2 sc in same st as joining. Sc in next st. Work 2 sc in next st. (5 sts)
Row 2: ch 1, TURN. Work 2 sc in 1st st.  Sc in each of the next 3 sts. Work 2 sc in next st. (7 sts)
Rows 3-5: ch 1, TURN. Sc in each st across. (7 sts)
Row 6: ch 8, TURN. Sc in 2nd ch from hook. Work 2 sc in each of the next 2 chs. Sc in each of the next 4 chs. (Tail made). Sc in each of the next 5 sts across bottom of body. Sc2tog. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
