I figured I'd start out with something super simple, and super cute...I've been playing around with these guys for a while, so I want to share my sweet little Stars and Sprites with you! Stars and Sprites Crochet Pattern Materials Used: Leftover bits of worsted weight yarn, in your choice of colors, and a few yards of plush yarn in black. Size F/5 (3.5mm) hook for worsted weight yarn Size H/8 (5.00mm) for plush yarn Small amount of stuffing Two size 8mm safety eyes Yarn needle Size/Gauge: Gauge is not important to this project. Finished models measure approximately 1.5” across for Stars, and 3” for Sprites. Stitches Used/Abbreviations: Ch-chain Rnd-round Sc-single crochet Sc2tog-single crochet two stitches together Hdc-half double crochet Dc-double crochet Sl st-slip stitch |
For my Stars, I used the new Premier Minikins yarn~If you love cotton, go get some of this! It's so soft, with amazing drape for a cotton yarn...it is also rated a weight 2, so it's the perfect contrast to the chenille yarn!

Anyway~On to the patterns!
Star: (Make 2)
Rnd 1: ch 2. Work 10 hdc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. (10 sts)
Rnd 2: ch 1. *Work {1hdc, 1 dc, 1 hdc} all in next st. Sl st in next st*. Repeat (*) around. (5 points) Fasten off.
Place 2 finished Stars back to back and stitch through both layers around entire outer edge, working one sc in each hdc st, 2 sc in each dc st, and one sl st in each sl st. Stuff lightly before closing, if desired.
Rnd 1: ch 2. Work 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. (8 sts)
Rnd 2: ch 1. Work 2 sc in each st around. Join. (16 sts)
Rnd 3: ch 1. *Sc in next st. Work 2sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (24 sts)
Rnds 4-6: ch 1. Sc in each st around. Join. (24 sts)
Rnd 7: ch 1. *Sc in next st. Sc2tog*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (16 sts)
Rnd 8: ch 1. Sc2tog, 8 times. Join. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for weaving. Weave tail through final sts and pull tight to close.
Eyes: (Make 2, using worsted weight, or lighter yarn)
Ch 2. Work {3 sc, 3 hdc, 3 sc} all in 2nd ch from hook. Join. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Place a safety eye into the center of each eye, before sewing eye in desired positions on face.
